Andrew received his bachelors in exercise science from Northern Michigan University and continued his education at Central Michigan University where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT).
Andrew recently came to the area from Grand Haven, MI, where he worked mainly in a outpatient orthopedic setting working with patients and athletes ranging from foot and ankle injuries, knee and hip dysfunctions, shoulder pain, and spine dysfunctions.
Andrew specializes in functional applied science which originates from internationally acclaimed physical therapist Gary Gray where he analyzes biomechanical dysfunctions in order to realize the true cause of your pain. This style of physical therapy is unique and extremely effective in returning the high level athlete or weekend warrior back to function.
Ben graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2010. Ben is a fellow of Applied Functional Science, completing his 40-week fellowship in 2014, and is also a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.
Ben was raised in Portage, MI and currently resides in Traverse City with his wife Megan and their dog Obie. In his free time he enjoys playing golf, mountain biking, hiking, and home improvement projects.
Salutations! I am so excited to join the team at Superior Physical Therapy! I have a passion for human anatomy and a great respect for how our musculoskeletal system functions to allow us to move. I enjoy educating anyone who has an interest in the human body and a goal of mine is to one day teach classes related to physical therapy in an academic arena. I have a love of learning, not just of the physical aspect of our health, but the psychologic component of our health and wellbeing as well—especially as it relates to pain and disability.
I am from the little town of Shepherd, MI where I grew up with my parents, my two older sisters and my younger brother. I would consider myself a movie buff as I enjoy cinema, so I am full of mindless entertainment trivia. I am also passionate about leading an active lifestyle, so I like to work out in addition to playing tennis, basketball, volleyball, and spikeball. Summer is by far my favorite season and I try to live outside as much as I can. I am hoping to become involved in a local church here in Traverse City, as well, and I played guitar and djembe on the worship team at my church back home. Finally, I love meeting new people and learning their stories—which is one reason why I chose physical therapy as a career!
Alex graduated from Oakland University in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. He then attended University of Michigan-Flint where he received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016. Native of Armada Michigan, Alex moved up to Traverse City after graduation with his fiancé, Karlyn, who is also a physical therapist. He loves playing hockey and played goalie for Oakland University’s Division I ACHA hockey team. His other hobbies include golfing, kayaking, and weightlifting.
Dr. Drew O’Donnel graduated from The University of Toledo in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He then continued at The University of Toledo where he received his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. He moved to Traverse City with his wife, Maren, who grew up here. Drew is a long-time patient of physical therapy and is thankful for the opportunity to become a movement specialist and give back in such an active community. He is enthusiastic about any outdoor activity, especially rock climbing, hiking, frisbee, and slacklining. He also rides his bike around town so feel free to say “hi” when you see him!
Dr. Megan Chupka-Fuson graduated from Western Michigan University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2013. Megan continues to attend conferences and participate in continuing education courses to better assist her patients by challenging her knowledge and skills as a PT. Megan grew up in Battle Creek, and currently lives in Traverse City with her family. Megan enjoys being outdoors, hiking, skiing, and spending time at the beach.
Brent is originally from Fenton, Michigan and spent the last 7 years in the Grand Rapids area attending Grand Valley State University. In 2014, he earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science and, in 2017, earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree. Brent was involved in sports throughout high school including track, wrestling, football, and cross-country, which led him down the career path of physical therapy.
Brent still loves to stay active through running, mountain biking, kayaking, and hiking. He highly enjoys working with patients who share his interest for an active lifestyle. Brent also likes travelling to new places and gaining exposure to different cultures. His favorite two experiences were travelling to Australia and Guatemala. In 2014, he completed a 3-month internship in Australia working at Newcastle University’s Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition. In 2016, he led a group of 11 DPT students and several occupational therapy students to Zacapa, Guatemala, where they worked in teams to provide PT and OT for those who were underserved.
Taylor graduated from Central Michigan University with her bachelors in biology in 2013 prior to earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The University of Michigan-Flint in 2016. Being born and raised in Traverse City, Taylor decided to return to the area in 2018 after working two years at another outpatient orthopedic clinic downstate. Taylor is always eager to attend continuing education courses and learn new treatment techniques to further help her patients. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and is passionate about physical therapy and its ability to heal the body naturally through movement and exercise. In her free time, Taylor stays busy throughout the Michigan seasons and enjoys fishing, camping, hiking, snowboarding, and playing golf.
My name is Brad Demeuse. I am a doctor of physical therapy who graduated from Michigan State University in 2005. I then worked as a technician in physical therapy for 2 years in Petoskey (my hometown) before starting physical therapy school in 2008 at Grand Valley State University. I graduated in 2011 and moved to Traverse City. I have worked in a number of different settings as a therapist including outpatient orthopedic, home care and acute/in-patient care. What attracted me to SPT is the Applied Functional Science approach of assessing and treating patients. I have a background in advanced manual treatment that I obtained through the Manual Therapy Institute. I am interested in incorporating these unique skills into the functional movement training I am pursuing as an employee at SPT. Personally, I enjoy golfing, boating/water sports, downhill skiing as well as continuing to explore the natural beauty that comes with living in northern Michigan. I am excited to see where my career takes me as a team member at SPT.
Keith received his athletic training degrees from Lake Superior State as well as a Masters in Exercise Physiology from Northern Michigan University. Since then Keith has worked in Alaska for two years in a physical therapy setting. Keith has been in Traverse City, MI for six years in various physical therapy settings.
Most notably Keith has worked along side the Traverse City Wolves football team, Bay Reps Hockey, Grand Traverse Firefighters, Special Olympians and various high school and collegiate athletes. Keith specializes in using functional assessments and exercises to focus on the patients dysfunction in order to reduce the symptoms.
Dan graduated from Baker College in 2016 with an Associates in Applied Science for Physical Therapist Assistant. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors in Sports and Health Science from American Military University as well as becoming a Tactical Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dan has had the opportunity to work with firefighters in Columbus Ohio to learn what it takes to keep them strong and injury free. Dan is from Muskegon but moved to Traverse City in the summer of 2016. Dan enjoys doing anything outdoors like biking and kayaking and also likes lifting weights and playing guitar.
Dr. Sarah Patterson received her Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Exercise Science and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University. Sarah is originally from Traverse City and recently moved back to the area with her fiance after graduation. She has a passion to continue learning by attending conferences and is a member of the conference committee that plan fall and spring conferences for professionals and students throughout Michigan. Sarah and her husband, Brad, are currently enjoying their time as newly weds and remodeling their home. She grew up on silver lake and enjoys being in the water, whether it be kayaking, swimming or boating and also enjoys hiking with her chocolate lab, running, reading and traveling.
Vanessa has been in the Traverse City area for over 16 years and loves all of the beauty this region has to offer. Vanessa has varied, extensive experience in customer service and loves making patients smile. Vanessa is very involved in the area’s music scene with booking live bands at venues in her area, including shows at her home. She loves riding her bicycle, swimming, and serving the community.
Hannah is a Northern Michigan native. She enjoys hiking with her boyfriend and her dog Roxie. She likes spending her time relaxing on a boat listening to her favorite band, Queen. She likes that Traverse City offers so many different activities for people, like festivals, restaurants, theaters and great local music.
Taylor joined the Superior staff in March, 2021. Taylor graduated from Lake Superior State University in 2017 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and an Associate’s degree in Health & Fitness. She then went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Oakland University in 2020. In March, Taylor moved from her hometown of Waterford, MI to Traverse City to join the Superior team!
Taylor grew up playing lots of sports. Throughout high school she played basketball, softball, volleyball, and golf and continued her athletic career at LSSU where she was the center fielder for their division II softball team. Various sports-related injuries over the years introduced her to the field of physical therapy, which led Taylor to choose a career path that allows her to help others find healing, prevent injuries and function at their optimal level.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, hiking, playing sports, and spending time with her family and friends.
Jared Alcorn, DPT, hails from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. His undergraduate degree was obtained from Cleveland State University, where he graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. In 2021 he graduated from Andrews University with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
His favorite sport is soccer, which he played in college. He also enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and golf. Jared is happy to be starting his physical therapy career in beautiful northern Michigan where he can indulge his love of the outdoors by snowboarding, waterskiing/wakeboarding, camping, and hiking.
Jared’s favorite part of being a physical therapist is getting to know his patients, and helping them get back to the activities that they love to do!
