We know lumbar spinal stenosis can have symptoms such as lower back pain, pain traveling down into your leg, numbness and tingling traveling down into your leg and weakness in the legs. We also know that this makes you not want to walk or stand any longer than you have to. It can make playing with your grandchildren impossible. And lack of activity can lead to depression and overall just feeling hopeless.

We are here to help

As Lumbar Stenosis Specialist we are trained to understand that it is important to provide you with treatment that gives you relief from your symptoms of pain but also provides you with permanent relief and the ability to return back to the activities that you love. Most providers only give you treatment that provide short term relief. This is common when given pain medications, injections, spinal decompression, massage, or any exercises or stretches focusing only on the lower back. We take it to a greater level of understanding. We know that the newest science out there indicates that it is the areas above and below the lower back that are the real problem. As the body moves all of the movement that happens in the upper body and lower body are transmitted through the lower back. If the motion that is transmitted through the lower back is too much the spine will be taken to its limits of motion. This causes the hole in the spine where the nerve comes out to narrow even more than it was designed to be. This narrow hole compresses the nerve and causes pain in the back and sometimes down the leg. So, in order to find permanent relief from your symptoms associated with spinal stenosis you must improve the motion in the areas above and below the lower back.

We typically focus on the upper back (thoracic spine), the hips, and the foot and ankle complex. By focusing on these areas we are able to return you to pain free motion. Having spinal stenosis does not mean that you have to live a life of pain. In fact new research indicates that 80% of people over the age of 60 have spinal stenosis on an MRI but have no pain. We also know that having spinal stenosis does not mean that surgery is the only answer, regardless of what your surgeon may have said. In fact research indicates that spinal surgery for stenosis is only 50% successful after 2 years.
